Sambar Rice / Sambar Sadam Recipe :

There is an undisputed love for sambar in every Indian's heart. Even the simplest of ingredients that go into the making of sambar rice can do wonders. While there are various ways people prepare this dish, we reveal one the oldest and simplest way. So here we go, check our step by step procedure of sambar rice / sambar sadam recipe.


Ingredients :

Rice
1 Cup
Dal
1/2 Half Cup
Tomato
1 (Chopped)
Turmeric Powder
2 Spoons
Curry Leaves
Handful
Drumsticks
1         (Cut them into 3 to 5 Pieces)
Carrot
1(Sliced)
Onions
2 (Sliced)
Sambar Powder
1-2 spoons (As Required)
Red chilies
1-2
Tamarind
Small Amount (Lemon Size)
Salt
As needed
Oil or Ghee
2 Tablespoons
Coriander Leaves
(Handful)
Asafoetida
Pinch
Water
2 Cups
Seasonal Ingredients
Each 1/2 half tea spoon

How to Make Sambar Rice / Sambar Sadam Recipe :


1. First, soak tamarind in a bowl for 20mins (immerse with hot water for more juice)
2. Wash Rice and Dal and Cook both Together in a pressure cooker for 3 Whistles
3. Meanwhile get bowl ready and cook all the vegetables.
4. Take a pan and heat ghee on it. Add the ingredients red chilli, curry leaves, mustard and cumin. Next, Add all the vegetables and saute the content for 2-3 minutes. To make it more soft add 1cup of water and cook it .
5. Once veggies are almost cooked, add tamarind juice (that you have soaked) and sambar powder and salt. let it boil for 4-5minutes.
6. Now Mix the rice and Dal to the veggies and mash them
7. Stir well and boil them to bring the consistency.
8. Now sprinkle the seasonal ingredients mixture on sambar rice and mix well.
Now serve the Hot Sambar Rice with your Favourite Veg or Non-Veg starter, Fry, Papad or Pickle.
