Ingredients :


Boiled rice
4 cups
Cooking oil
2 or 3 tablespoon
fenugreek seeds
1/2 teaspoon
chana dal / split bengal gram
1 tablespoon
mustard seeds
1 teaspoon
raw peanuts
1 tablespoon
curry leaves
1 sprig
green chillies
2 chopped
Asafetida
Pinch
seasame seeds (dry roast and crush to make a powder)
1 tsp
red chilli powder, coriander powder
1/2 tsp each
whole red chillies
4 to 5
turmeric
1/2 teaspoon
tamarind juice
1 cup


Procedure to Make Spicy Pulihora Recipe (Chintapandu Pulihora) :

  • Firstly, handful soak Tamarind in Luke warm water for tamarind juice
  • Next Boil 4 Cups of Rice & keep aside to make Pulihora.
  • Now take a Pan -> Heat Oil -> Fry Red Chilli’s for few seconds
  • Add Mustard seeds -> splutter -> add fenugreek seeds, Chana dal and peanuts
  • Mix all the seasonal ingredients and cook on medium flame (without burning)
  • Add curry leaves, chopped green chillies, Asafoetida and turmeric powder
  • Add tamarind juice, red chilli powder, coriander powder
  • Cook the gravy for ten minutes until Oil oozes out
  • Add sesame seeds powder, salt and cook for ten more minutes & off the stove
  • Now add this gravy (Tamarind mixture) to boiled rice and mix thoroughly
  • Finally garnish with some fresh coriander leaves.
